This Wednesday for our Yoga Intensive Learning, we took a trip to Amico Island. The morning started off with our daily yoga practice, followed by breakfast. Breakfast included granola, yogurt, chia seed pudding, and banana bread. After eating breakfast, a lesson was introduced about the seven universal truths. These truths conveyed that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Everything is impermanent and connected. Fear and pain are life’s greatest teachers. Many qualities needed for life include laughter, play, exercise, rest, touch, and intimacy.
Once our lesson was finished we began preparations for our lunch to take to the Island. We packed rice, tofu, seaweed, steamed bok choy and broccoli. After packing our lunches we began to pack up our items to go on the bus to take us to the island. Once arriving to Amico we got out and sat down on a few benches to eat lunch. Albert and Jacob decided to be our tour guides for this trip. We hiked a few minutes on the paths in the woods until arriving upon a beach. There were many rocks along the water as well as sticks. We walked down the beach more to come to a flat sandy part with many rocks. With these rocks we created meditation stone towers. Some of us took multiple sticks and created a small house of branches, wood, stones, and mud. We also searched for some beautiful rocks as Mrs. Edmund explained some of the wildlife and descriptions of the rocks. We took the bus back to school and created jewelry with beads and string. The experience was beautiful and created a wonderful time for all of us yogis!
