The day started with a two-hour drive to the cottage belonging to Shakespeare’s wife, Anne Hathaway. After exploring the cottage, we were free to wander around the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Some of the places that we visited included a Harry Potter store, a delicious fudge store, as well as a vintage store. Next, we visited the Shakespeare Centre, which included his birthplace, to learn more about the famous playwright’s life and works. Later, we checked into our hotel and explored the city a bit more, while visiting places like the bookstore and cafes.
We then enjoyed a delicious dinner, including peach cobbler, tomato bisque, Yorkshire pudding, as well as some meat and vegetables, before heading to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to see a performance of Julius Caesar. The performance was quite phenomenal in that the actors performed their own interpretation of the famous play, even encapsulating the emotions of Shakespeare’s great work with such honestly. Overall, it was a full day of Shakespearean exploration and entertainment.
