We started off our first full day in England with a bus tour of London. After breakfast at our hotel, we boarded the bus and started our tour. Our first stop was Buckingham Palace, where we learned about the King’s estates, the palace itself, and all about the guards. After that we took a walk through St. James Park before boarding the bus to go to our next stop. Our next stop was St. Paul’s Cathedral. We went to an overlook across from the cathedral and learned about the cathedral and the London skyline. Finally, we boarded the bus to our final stop, The British Library. Here, we looked at various different pieces of writing that ranged from sacred texts to original sheets of Mozart’s music. After the bus tour concluded, we walked over to King’s Cross Station for free time to get lunch and view the famous Platform 9 ¾.
In the afternoon, we did a Harry Potter-themed tour starting in Picadilly Circus (street-wise, not circus tent-wise), and ending at the Milienium Bridge, also known as the Harry Potter bridge because it’s best known for being attacked by Death Eaters in the final film. After the tour we had a nice dinner (Sausage and Mash), and then we finally headed back to the subway (locally known as the Tube [chewb]) to take us to see the musical SIX ™ live in theaters; however, we were unable to get a way into the Tube, so we had a nice long walk. Thankfully, it was very much worth it as the play was one of, if not the best, musicals I have ever seen. Today was a great day, and we hope to have many more just like it!
