Today we visited the Great Wall of China! After starting off the day with another amazing breakfast, we took an almost two hour-long bus ride to the base of the Wall. It was about a 25 minute hike up to the top, which was incredibly steep, but not enough to drain us because once we got to the top, we walked along the Wall for two more hours! Everyone headed north up to a higher viewing tower, stopping along the way to take pictures at other stations periodically. The stairs were tough and treacherous, but we finally made it!
One of the coolest parts to round off our Great Wall Experience was a metal slide that we all took to get down. Each person got a plastic cart, and we made it down from the wall for an exotic lunch at Subway.
After lunch, we went back into the city and visited the campus of Beijing University and Olympic Park! We played hackeysack and skateboarded around while we checked out the architecture and finally concluded our day with some dinner and a show of singing, musical instruments, and magic in the city. You can’t go to Beijing without seeing the Great Wall of China. It was a historic day. We’re ready for tomorrow.
