A beautiful spring day for our visit to this amazing plant museum. There are all kinds of collectors out there. Pierre du Pont collected plants and trees. Today we learned a little something about a garden that is bigger than Harry’s home town of Wenonah. We toured the gigantic conservatory, a welcome tropical respite after our vigorous travels of the last week. We saw a plant—one of two in the whole world— that had been around since dinosaurs roamed the earth. We saw plants in every color you can imagine. And, because we are the people who peek behind the scenes, we ventured into the greenhouses that make all that color possible. The special displays change regularly, so there are always lots of things growing. We even got a chance to take some cuttings from a plant called Saint Augustine’s Grass. With luck they will soon take root in Ms. Scully’s and Ms. McFeely’s rooms.
We ended our very busy week with a lovely walk in the park.
