“This is so cool!” said a quilting student as she sewed on a machine for the first time. Our group met for the first time today in our sunny room in the Greenleaf where we unpacked our sewing machines and practiced on paper before we begin to sew in earnest next week. Our schedule next week is packed with learning how to use a sewing machine, rotary cutters, irons, the old needle and thread, and food … lots of food! As students exercise their right brains to make dynamic and interesting designs they will learn how easy it can be to create useful and beautiful items with scraps of fabric.
