On March 28th, the Arts and Entertainment Intensive Learning went to the Cunningham Piano Factory. The factory is located in Germantown and just across the street from Germantown Friends. Cunningham Piano Factory is the only piano factory within hundreds of miles. We learned a lot about the history of the factory, the restoration process for pianos, and supply chain issues. Fun Fact: pianos take from up to six weeks to a year to be restored. Our experience at the Cunningham Piano Factory was greatly improved when students were allowed to play piano at the end of the tour.
Once the tour ended, students went to Maker Artisan Pizza and had lunch. Overall, the Arts and Entertainment Intensive Learning had a great time at Cunningham Piano Factory, and we learned a lot!
