Arts & Entertainment, Day Three: Proof Productions

Today, we had the exciting opportunity to visit Proof Productions, where we explored the intricate process of bringing stage designs to life. We learned about the many steps involved in production and the wide range of jobs required to complete a project, from painters and builders to engineers and designers. It was incredible to see firsthand how sets and props are crafted for major productions like Hamilton, Frozen, and Aladdin, as well as large-scale projects for companies like Samsung and events such as the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade. Witnessing the level of skill and collaboration involved gave us a whole new appreciation for the art of set building!

Witnessing the level of skill and collaboration involved gave us a whole new appreciation for the art of set building! The current installation they were working on was for a performance piece by BalletX. Inspired by Lord of the Flies, the set design features lots of natural elements, rope vines, and a plane wing. The staff at Proof Productions showed us all of the automation in the set and even let us test out some of the pieces!

After returning to campus, we took a break for lunch. Some students chose to stay and eat on campus, while others ventured out to Main Street. Once everyone had finished eating, we shifted our focus back to our creative projects. We spent time refining our songs, discussing ideas, and making plans for our upcoming trip to the recording studio on Thursday.

In addition to our music work , with an hour left in the school day we also took part in service activities to help maintain and improve the auditorium. Some students painted stage props for the upcoming middle school musical, while others organized and cleaned out storage closets. We also worked together to sweep floors, tidy up work areas, and take down decorations. It was a productive afternoon filled with teamwork, creativity, and preparation for the exciting days ahead!
