On the team’s second day in Myrtle Beach, we got off to an early start, as we once again met for an 8:00 A.M. breakfast of eggs, biscuits, and French toast. After that, we traveled a few miles south to the Grant Park Athletic Complex for a modified three inning scrimmage against Friends Select. Once the scrimmage concluded, the team returned to Myrtlewood Villas for a short break before heading to Coastal Carolina University (the 2016 College Baseball National Champions) to watch a game featuring the hometown Chanticleers and the Texas State Bobcats. When the team arrived, the Bobcats had a 2-0 lead, but the Chanticleers battled back and won the game 7-3. Due to our 6:30 start time, we were forced to leave the game early and return to Myrtlewood Villas before departing for a game of our own.
The team arrived at the Grant Park Athletic Complex once again and took batting practice and infield-outfield prior to the start of the game. In our second game, we faced off against another Pittsburgh-based private school in the Seton LaSalle Rebels. The Rebels jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single in the bottom half of the first-inning. Moorestown Friends took a 2-1 lead on an Alex Boller single that brought home two runs. MFS added an insurance run on a Michael Stepanski sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 game. However, the Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and never relinquished the lead. Moorestown Friends received solid efforts from Mark Johnson and Andrew Shah, who gave up four combined runs in six innings of work. Moorestown Friends is back in action tomorrow night at 9:00 P.M.
