In the team’s inaugural game in Myrtle Beach, the Foxes fell to the Albert Gallatin Area School Colonials (a high school near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) by a final score of 6-5; however, the game was limited to two hours and the teams did not get through the full seven innings.
Moorestown Friends jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a Kyle Eiffes RBI single in the top of the first inning. After that, though, the Colonials ripped off five unanswered runs to take a 5-1 lead heading into the fifth inning, which would turn out to be the game’s final one. Following an Eiffes RBI triple, MFS loaded the bases with no outs and Foxes outsmarted the Colonials on the basepaths to tie the game up at five. Although the Foxes fought back from four runs down to even the score, the tie was short-lived as Colonials used a one-out sacrifice fly to take a 6-5 lead. After this at bat, the game was called as the two-hour time limit for every game (as stated in the official Ripken rulebook) went into effect and brought about the end of the game.
Moorestown Friends will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:00 P.M. after a joint practice with the Friends Select Falcons in the morning.
