Bayshore, Day Three
Today was super rainy, making boat painting difficult. Instead, we spent time with ropes!
Arrival
At the beginning of the day, we played Two Truths and a Lie as an icebreaker game. Then the group split into two groups and then resumed our painting projects from yesterday. The larger group, comprised of Katia, Santo, Miles, Elena, Amanda, and Kyle worked on painting the interior of the boat, but were hampered by intermittent showers that kept the paint from drying. While waiting for primer to dry, Santo and Katya figured out the solution to the handcuff challenge. We’ll wait until tomorrow to ask Pen if their method is legit!!!
A second group, Jack, Chris, Jackson, and Aaron, worked on painting wooden boxes and the corresponding lids. After the boxes had been painted, we had to begin the job of coiling the ropes. The new ropes need to be coiled repeatedly to break them in for use on the boat. Given the slow boat-painting progress, some of the students on the boat came out to the docks to further assist with that task. We finished with ten minutes left until lunch, so we used that time to put the finishing touches on the first coat of paint in the boat. We then enjoyed lunch and began the ride home.
