Buongiorno!

Our day started with a three hour flight to Rome. Afterwards we took a bus to our final destination of the trip, Florence. On our three-hour journey we saw beautiful hilltop communities and learned there are actually 20 different regions throughout Italy. We looked at sheep farms and massive mountains while driving to Florence. Our tour guide taught us some Italian phrases and common food items. We learned that Italians use hand motions while speaking to help clarify what they are saying because they talk really fast.

After reaching Florence, our tour guide took us on a tour of the main hubs in Florence and explained to us how to find our way around and what was unique to Florence. She wanted to make sure we got familiar with our surroundings and saw what Florence has to offer. Once we got settled we stopped for a quick pic by the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore!

Our first activity in Florence was visiting The Gold and Leathered Factory. There, we sat in on an information session about leather, learning about ways to distinguish between fake and genuine leather, how leather boxes are made, and so many more interesting facts about leather in Florence.

After the info session was complete, we walked through Leonardo’s, a local genuine leather store, and had the opportunity to buy and see all the different ways leather can be utilized.

We discovered some interesting sights along our way to dinner this evening as the sun began to settle!

A long day of travel but well worth it! Looking forward to our next couple of days in Italy.
