Following the rough ferry ride and few sick kids caused by the stormy sea, we made our way through the Albanian customs this morning.
We eventually trekked onto the new bus and traveled to the Albanian capital, Tierna. We visited all sorts of cafes and the city square. After about an hour of exploration we got back on the bus and traveled to Kruja, which housed a castle of the leader of the Albanian revolution against the Ottomans during the 15th century.
After seeing the magnificent museum within the castle walls, we were able to explore the small town and get lunch. The town was lined with cobblestone streets and small souvenir stores. As we explored, it began to rain, which only made the mountains more fascinating. We had one last bathroom stop before the border and George explored a real leftover Russian bunker (yes, if you look close — he is in there.) We eventually made it through to the border between Albania and Montenegro.
After an uneventful border crossing, we made it to our hotel, where we all got some much needed food and rest at our fancy hotel!
Here are some of the amazing landscapes we were able to witness today.
