On day three of Chinese Culture Intensive Learning we learned how to make traditional Chinese dumplings and wontons. We made three different types of dumplings for everyone to enjoy. We made vegetarian, pork, and beef dumplings. For vegetarian dumplings we used a plant-based dough while the other options used different dough. First we mixed each filling and added the eggs to the bowl and stirred. Then we took our dough and placed the filling in the center. We used water to help fold the dumpling. We learned how to fold each dumpling and the differences between folding a dumpling and folding a wonton. Each table got to steam their own dumplings and eat their creations. We also got to taste scallion pancakes, which were very delicious. All the students got to eat and share the dumplings with other Intensive Learning groups. Later in the day after we all went outside and learned about traditional Chinese kites and yoyos. It was a perfect day to fly kites and overall a very fun activity.
