We learned about Chinese history, art forms, games, and food on the first day of Chinese Culture.
In the morning, we learned about the Shang dynasty, Spring and Autumn dynasty, the Warring States, the Qin dynasty, and the Han dynasty. Each dynasty had its own unique legacies that impacted Chinese cultures, such as Confucianism and Daoism, inventions such as paper and gunpowder, and beautiful artifacts made from bronze.
Later we hand-drew some fans and played games such as Chinese checkers and Chinese card games. We also tried calligraphy and looked at how Chinese calligraphy and paintings are presented.
Then, we had lunch at Akira and tried some Chinese food such as spring rolls, fried rice, and lo mein.
