Today, the Great MFS Baking Show Intensive Learning had some fun baking four different chocolate chip cookie recipes in the morning. Each recipe was a little different. Itty Bitty Bow’s recipe was vegan since it used flaxseed as a substitute for eggs. GKL’s recipe included brown butter, creating a cookie with a nuttier flavor profile. JuST Pastries’ recipe was a top-secret family recipe. Smart Cookies’ recipe included cornstarch and required the skill of separating eggs.
We then visited the Lower School and had the kindergartners taste-test our creations, and each voted for their favorite bakery’s cookie. Using the bakery brand voting slips we created this afternoon, this allowed for an easy voting process. Mrs. Serrano’s kindergarten class had the most votes for Itty Bitty Bows, and Mrs. Ragghianti’s kindergarten class had the most votes for Smart Cookies. We also made cookie sampler boxes for the kind faculty/staff members who lent us a variety of kitchen utensils for the week. Lastly, we set up for our showstopper bakes tomorrow. We’re ready to wow the judges!
