Croatia and Bosnia makes it seven countries in six days!

Today we traveled to Dubrovnik, Croatia! Dubrovnik is a very beautiful town covered with red-roofed stone buildings and surrounded by gorgeous teal water. Dubrovnik is also where the HBO hit TV show Game Of Thrones does a lot of its filming, especially of Kings Landing. The first spot we saw was Fort Lovrijenac which doubles as Blackwater Bay and the Red Keep in GOT.

We entered the Old City and were welcomed by Onofrio’s Fountain and a very old church that withstood bombings and earthquakes, named St. Saviour Church. Next to the very old church there is another Roman Catholic Church that has a little owl rain drain on the side of it. The story of the owl goes like this: two men wanted to be married in the beautiful Roman Catholic Church, but it was booked and how they decided who got the venue was which man could stand on the slippery stone owl the longest. So of course, we had some of our own try it! Fun fact: there are 42 Roman Catholic Churches within the Dubrovnik city walls!

We next traveled through the limestone streets of Dubrovnik to the Franciscan Monastery, home of the third oldest pharmacy! The pharmacy is no longer in use but is extremely well preserved along with other beautiful artifacts from Croatia’s history.

While on our travels we passed a church dedicated to St. Blaise, patron saint of Dubrovnik. Next we took a lift up a mountain to get an aerial view of the city, which was breathtaking. When we came back down we visited the Dominican Monastery, which like the Franciscan Monastery was home to many old artifacts including a bible from the 11th century. Our tour guide, Ana, then took the group around the Dubrovnik City Walls where we got a wonderful 360 view of the city and it’s surroundings. While on the city wall we came across where Daenerys visits the House of the Undying when she demands where her dragons are in GOT!

Then we were off to find food around the city ranging from pizza to seafood and purchasing souvenirs. Sadly, our time in Dubrovnik had come to an end and it was time to travel to Hvar. But, before we got to Hvar, we got the opportunity to set foot in Bosnia and Hertzegovina, our 7th country of the trip!

Bosnia!

We stocked up on food, took pictures and continued on with our journey to Hvar. After a brief ferry ride with a great view of the mountains, we arrived in Hvar!
