Enlightenment in Old City

We had lunch at The Bourse, which is famous for being the first stock exchange building in the country. Its outside walls are coated with red brick and sandstone. Now it is a delicious place to eat food with a huge choice of food. – Peter

Today we went to Christ Church and learned many historical facts about the church and some of the people buried in the church, like William Penn’s grandson. The windows in the church are clear which had to do with the Enlightenment. -Lauren

We ended our day with a surprise trip to Capogiros, which is said to be the #1 gelato place in the world by National Geographic. -Chloe

Today, the first thing we did when we got off the bus was go to Christ Church, which was once the tallest building in Philly at 7 stories. As well as being the tallest it was one of the best architectural buildings in all of America in the 18th century because of the height and how thick the walls are, 2-4.5 feet. This was a sign of wealth, and so was the way the bricks were placed. One of the architects we learned about was Robert Smith. -Jack
