Exploring Animation, Day Three

Today, for our third day, our group started with a short Meeting for Worship with the preschoolers. We stayed for around 20 minutes, then split off to go work on our videos. While the high schoolers began working on the stop motion, the preschoolers began to play and build more connections with other highschoolers.

In the Andorko group, we went outside and played on the playscape with the preschoolers while three other dedicated high schoolers worked on the stop-motion movie. The group got a lot done on the set portion and began to film the first shots of the movie. During the filming, preschoolers helped contribute by taking photos of the set and offering some ideas.

In the McVaugh group, we first began with a small morning meeting to discuss the plans of the day. Then we split up into two different groups to work on the video. While one group went outside to play, another stayed inside and had preschoolers help take the photos for the video. We then switched the groups, and the new group continued the set. During this time, the preschoolers also helped with the set by painting the rocket ship and planets for the space theme.

While the preschoolers were at their special of the day – Andorko’s group went to the library while McVaugh went to PE – the high schoolers were allowed to be more productive and move forward with the production of the videos.

We concluded the day with lunch, where the Andorko group and the McVaugh group went to lunch together in the Dining Hall, which was the second day that the preschoolers were able to eat lunch in there. Once lunch was finished, we all said our goodbyes to the preschoolers and went back to class to prepare for tomorrow.
