Today we went to Ocean City to create art on the beach. People created many different kinds of art, including string art, sandcastles, and drawings in the sand. Not every piece of art was successful, and this was mainly due to the amount of time we had and the difficulty of the pieces. However, overall all of the art created was very interesting, and after making the pieces of art we took all of them down so that we kept the beaches clean. We took photographs of the art and people, and they turned out very well. Overall it was a great day and we all had a lot of fun.
As a class, we decided that it would be better to go to Ocean City on Wednesday rather than Thursday. We made the right decision because we were able to enjoy nice weather instead of rain. During the two hours at the beach, we created a range of different projects. There was an art piece made of yarn and wooden stakes and a large-scale seashell made up of pieces of crushed shells. There were many sand drawings as well. We took many pictures of the artwork, as well as many nature scenes that the beach had to offer. A favorite spot was in between the rocks of the jetties where seashells were stuck in the spaces between the rocks and created an interesting pattern. Today was very enjoyable and we loved having the time to create art and relax on the beach.
Today was a great day shared with friends. Yesterday, we made the decision to visit Ocean City since the weather on Thursday was not going to be the best. Since we did not have a day to prepare or create projects to install at the beach, we spent some time in the beginning of the day looking up different projects we could do on the beach. After a long bus ride, we finally arrived on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Fortunately the weather today was much warmer than that on Pakim Pond, but we still dressed in many layers. When we first arrived, some students explored the rocks while others went off with stakes we had brought with us to start creating drawings in the sand. But soon enough, everyone was enjoying their time, working on a project. These ranged from sand drawing, string art, and creating sandcastles. Mr. Webster and Ms. Edmund went around with a camera and a mirror and took portraits of us. The way the sun hit the mirror made the background look beautiful, almost fake. It was a great day for everyone!
