Today we saw a MOOSE in New Jersey!
Just kidding! This is one of the sculptures created in the Pine Barrens today. The Moose is Loose!
Before heading out to Pakim Pond in the New Jersey Pine Barrens we spent the first hour of the day collecting the supplies that we needed to finish our pieces of art. After packing the bus we set off. We took a quick pit stop at a Wawa to grab some lunch that we would enjoy after installing our art. When we got to the pond it was cold, but we all went on an adventure around the pond to warm up. The pond was so beautiful and very inspirational, we took some great photos! By the time we were done with that we were all really cold but Mr. Webster made us a fire which kept us warm and toasty all day. We spent the rest of the day putting together our art works. It was a great experience shared with great people.
The pond was in the middle of nowhere but it was surrounded by a path in which we walked around, and had plenty of trees and cool places to display our art. One group chose to hang pieces of origami from all different strings and attached this to a tree. Another cool display was the CDs that were made into a lily pad to float in the pond. The styrofoam moose and penguin also floated in the pond, and made for some great photographs! Additionally, a dress was made out of plastic grocery bags, that were cut and spray painted. She wore the dress into the water and the pieces of the skirt floated at the surface to make for the prettiest sight. With all of these projects, we had to adjust our original design so that it fit-in with the space. Our art pieces added to the very natural and dark colored landscape, making it more colorful and interesting to look at. It really made us think of art in a whole new way!
