The Folk Art IL group had an eventful first day: a wonderful nature walk, basket weaving, friendship bracelets, and everyone’s favorite, the mould and deckle.
First, we started with a snack consisting of fruit, croissants, and muffins. After that, we took a nature walk around the back of the school and found animal bones, mushrooms, and blooming flowers. When we returned to the building, we all warmed up and started to weave paper baskets and friendship bracelets. After we all made unique colored and patterned bracelets, we enjoyed branching out for lunch. We met back in our room at 1:35 to start to put together our paper-making tool, the mould and deckle. We made two rectangles out of wood with glue and nails. Then, we stapled a piece of netting cloth onto one of the rectangles for Monday’s paper-making project. We had a great first day and hope to have a great second day as well.
