Today our group took a trip to Newton Lake in Collingswood. We went around the entire lake with large plastic bags and picked up garbage. We also learned about macroinvertebrates which are small bugs. We learned that there are three different kinds of macroinvertebrates, and they are type 1, type 2, and type 3. Type 1 are ones that live in non-polluted water, type 2 are ones that can live in semi-polluted water, and type 3 are ones that live in completely polluted water. Our guide told us that they do base testings on the lake to see how many insects are in the lake. Cleaning the lake was very intensive even though it was freezing cold outside!
