Morocco Day One: Touring Casablanca

Salam alaikum (that means peace be with you, the formal greeting in Morocco),

After a three hour bus ride to JFK, we had an uneventful security check (thank goodness) and boarded the plane for the long, seven-hour plane ride. Steven, Zach, and I had a intense competition over a plane game called Octopush and then fell asleep. Waking up to the “ding” of the seatbelt on sign, we arrived safely at Morocco.

We met with our guides, Marina, Jouad, driver Anwar, and assistant counter Hassan’s and traveled to a church with very beautiful stained glass. Because we were all super tired, we made a quick stop at a cafe for really wonderful cappuccinos! Well, except for Swope who ordered tea and found a bug in his.

Then Jouad gave us a tour around Casablanca where we saw various types of architecture and buildings. Then we stopped for lunch at Les Fleurs, where we had really wonderful tajine, fish, and avocado smoothies! Then we drove to a square where some locals gave us corn to feed to pigeons and took pictures of us.

Last but not least, we went to see 3rd largest mosque in the world, the Hassan II Mosque, and took some awesome pictures.

We finally checked in at a hotel styled as a traditional Moroccan home and relaxed by playing UNO! Overall, food, weather, and people are great! Awesome first day!!!

We gotta go to dinner, signing out,

Zach, Dragon, Steven and Morocco 2017! See you soon!!!
