Pan, Paella, Tapas, Flan, OHH MY!

Today we had breakfast at the hotel in Córdoba and then we started the hour and a half long trip to Málaga. When we got to Málaga, we immediately went to a school called Ave Maria. Here, we got to see how a school in Spain works. We briefly stopped at a kindergarten class where they sang songs for us and we sang Happy Birthday to a small boy.

Next, we took a tour of the school. There was a big playground in the courtyard in the center where some kids were having a recess period. We found out that some high school kids were on strike, so a large portion of the students weren’t at school. We saw a machine shop class where students actually got to work on cars and engines in the style of a vocational school. Afterwards, we went to a high school English class. To help them with their English, we held conversations with them in small groups and introduced our partners to the entire group. We had fun doing a little dancing, including the Macarena and the Wobble!

Afterwards, we arrived to our new hotel, and what a wonderful sight to be seen it was. We dropped off our bags and were out again, this time to see how paella is made. Unfortunately, we arrived late to our lunch and found that it had already been prepared for us. Under the windy conditions of the afternoon, we enjoyed our homemade paella. After we finished, we departed from our delectable lunch and made our way towards the beach. Our visit to the beach was only a tease however, as we were only there for around half an hour.

As we left the beach, we gathered together for a group picture on the rocks. We then went for our final destination of the day, dinner. Course after course was served to us as we ate up the heavenly tapas served to us, climaxing with a delectable chocolate mousse for dessert. As we basked with our full stomachs, a sad thought swept over us; we are leaving this all tomorrow. Members of our group stood up to say our thanks to the best Global Works leaders ever (confirmed by reliable sources), and they in turn stood up to offer their own thanks. We have had a wonderful time throughout our trip, though unfortunately, all good things must end. Tomorrow we say goodbye to the land of bread and paella and return back to our lives, greeted by the snow.
