Reflecting on Our Time at GKTW

Several students on the trip highlighted how fulfilling it was to provide service to families at GKTW. When leaving the building after your last shift, the memories of good times, satisfaction, and fulfillment flood your mind, leaving an everlasting stamp on any staff member or family attending GKTW.

As the plane ride back to New Jersey approaches, we can reflect on how this trip has affected us and the families at GKTW. Over the course of the last six days, we have been fortunate to establish connections with the families through various activities. Our activities ranged from painting nails at the Rocking Spa to serving hot plates at Cafe Clayton.

Aami said (as an alumna of GKTW): “I was bonding with one of the kids there (at GKTW), and we were talking about how treatment was very hard, but when you leave GKTW, you are so full of life.”

Although our time at GKTW is over, today we are heading to Hollywood Studios for the day to conclude our time in Orlando. Disney was an extremely fun time for all of us, as we got to experience some great rides, including the Rise of the Resistance, which we were all blown away by. We also ate great food at Hollywood & Vine, where Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto came and interacted with us. We are incredibly grateful for our time here, and we are excited to bring what we have learned back to the MFS community.
