We started our day early by arriving at Moorestown Friends at 5:45 AM to depart for the airport. From there we ate and socialized as the arrival time to Orlando, Florida had been pushed back by an hour due to delays caused by mechanical errors, thunderstorms, and even a 30-minute baggage claim delay.
Following our numerous delays, we still arrived in Florida and were out of the airport by 3 o’clock. We then quickly made our way to the hotel to check in, and then proceeded to Give Kids the World, where we received instruction about the volunteer’s role there. Shortly after, we were sent into our first jobs as volunteers at Give Kids the World.
Our jobs consisted of many different things; from operating a carousel to providing a safe environment for the kids at the swimming pool. We spent the time focusing on our jobs, for which the children and parents commended us. At the end of our time volunteering for the day we made our way back to the hotel to rest and be ready for our next day at Give Kids the World!
