We woke up at 6 am for an early start to our day. Once we got out of bed we piled into the vans and made our way over to the Second Harvest Food Bank. At Second Harvest Food Bank we had the opportunity to make a total of 3000 meals for elementary schools and day cares surrounding central Florida. Some packed chicken salad sandwiches with spinach and tomatoes as well as pasta with meat and vegetables, while others made snack packs with juice, oranges, and chips.
After the food bank, we had some down time at the hotel to eat, relax, and enjoy the beauty of Star Island Resort. Some rooms cooked meals including pancakes, rice, eggs, bacon, and more! Some chose to stay and relax in the hotel, while others played mini golf and indulged in ice cream from the resident deli.
Then it was time for our second and final night at Give Kids The World, with half of the group being in Cafe Clayton and the others in Stellar Starlights, which was a talent show party held for the kids. This was a sad but rewarding end of our service with Give Kids The World, and while it was bittersweet leaving the gates, we left knowing we helped make a difference.
