Our first service activity of the day was visiting a Creole Garden or “Jardin Créole”. We started by taking a tour of the area to learn about the different crops grown. Following this, we helped out by replanting crops, gathering turmeric, and picking up leaves.
After an hour of service, we sat down for a picnic, eating food that we purchased earlier in the day at a French supermarket. This consisted of sandwiches, cheeses, and fruits.
We then traveled to the southernmost town in Martinique for our second service project: ocean clean-up while snorkeling. This allowed us to explore the sea floor while also helping by picking up trash that was present. After working close to the shore, we took a boat out to the coral reef to finish off the activities for the day.
