We started started the day off at Independence Hall talking about the history of the building. It has been a monumental place for centuries; many important meetings have been held there with Pennsylvanian politicians. It is the place where George Washington was named General of the Army. Many cases have been held their for rulings by the jury. Some furniture has been removed, but some remains there, such as the chair George Washington sat in. Throughout the years many famous people have visited Independence Hall such as, Martin Luther King, Jr., Benjamin Franklin, etc. Overall Independence Hall is one of the most important historical places in Philadelphia or maybe even in the U.S. – Dozier

We toured Society Hill, a part of Philly with buildings mostly built in the 17th and 18th century. We visited Mrs. Smith’s house in Society Hill and got a tour from Mrs. Smith herself! We ate lunch on South Street, where there are many choices for places to eat. – Mateo
For lunch, a few of my fellow companions and I traveled to Jim’s Steaks. As we strolled down South Street, the area progressively became more modern. A few of my peers stopped at Lorenzo’s for very large slices of pizza. Overall, today’s trip was a success, and I’m looking forward to Reading Terminal Market tomorrow! – Michael
We went to an architecture firm. We learned about how large buildings are built and how much attention the architect has to pay to the small details. We also learned about how Hartman Hall was built, and how it used to be a retirement home in Moorestown. -Erin
