Today, we volunteered at the South Jersey Food Bank, where we helped organize snacks for distribution. First, we had to weigh each box to ensure it reached exactly 12 pounds. Once the boxes met the weight requirement, we carefully taped them shut to keep everything secure. After that, we organized them with the other snack boxes, making sure everything was neatly stacked and ready for distribution. The facility itself was massive, filled with countless boxes and supplies, which really put into perspective how much effort goes into food distribution. Although the work was repetitive, it felt good to contribute to such an important cause, knowing that our efforts would help families in need.

Today we saw how much progress has been made as far as service across the nation. We saw a visual timeline of the development of the Food Bank of South Jersey, and it was truly astonishing how much progress they made. However, myself and others realize how much work can still be done. I realized this when walking up the Copper River and visiting the memorials of fallen people of the nation, which made me realize that time is limited, so what impact can I make on the world while I’m here?

Something that stood out to me was how well run the organization was and how well organized it was. It was by far the easiest experience we’ve had so far. The labeling made everything so smooth and easy for us to help them, and it also left time for us to have fun with peers.
