It was a rewarding experience, and a great reminder of how small efforts can make a big difference in someone else’s day.

We had amazing day volunteering at Urban Promise in Pennsauken, NJ. Urban Promise is an organization that serves the local community by providing education and support to children in the city. Our class took the school bus there in the morning, and worked throughout the whole day.
In the morning, we started off by unloading tons of supplies, everything from crates of fresh fruit and leafy vegetables to bottled drinks, raw meat, and cases of water. Some of us were organizing the supplies and sorting them into categories, while other were breaking down huge cardboard boxes and stacking items neatly. A few students took on the task of packaging fruit carefully, making sure each bag looked neat and presentable. Everyone stayed focused and worked hard; it was really efficient.
After all that lifting and sorting, we sat down for a while, had lunch and took a breather.
In the afternoon, we split into two groups. One group headed to the basement where we had unloaded the supplies earlier and started cleaning up the space by sweeping, tidying, and putting things back in order. The other group went outside to rake up fallen leaves and collect tree branches that were scattered around the school grounds. It felt great to help the school look cleaner and more welcoming for the students and staff.
Once everything was wrapped up, we regrouped, took a picture, hopped back on the school bus, and returned to our own campus, a little tired but proud of the work we had done. It was a rewarding experience, and a great reminder of how small efforts can make a big difference in someone else’s day. Also we learned that we are really blessed with what we have right now and that we are going to MFS. We should cherish what we have.

I am really proud that what we did today helped hundreds of people getting the food. And I have the same feeling with Vincent that we should cherish the life we have and do more kind actions to help more people in need.
