Sparks Were Flying!

Today, we went to the Harriton House, an old 1800s era estate, for the third time in our blacksmithing escapade. Since Bruce had already shown us the ropes, we all headed back over to the forges and started building the fires. While things were still smoldering, a few guys experimented with paint stripper on a piece of painted metal. We’ll let you know tomorrow how that worked out!

Soon the fires were blazing, and everyone found their projects and got to work. There were tools, sculptures, and hooks being made by all the students. The angle grinder was the most popular item — everybody seems to want their work to shine! Mr. Newman and Mr. Thomson both worked on their own personal projects. We finished the day by cleaning up the forges and putting the tarp over them. With just two days to go, there is still much to create!
