The first day of Greece and Italy! After completing an almost full day of school, we boarded the bus and headed for the airport. We checked in, ran into our classmates from the Ireland and Wales trip, then boarded the plane for the 8 hour flight to Frankfurt. After we landed, we got some free time, and in small groups we all went our separate ways. In the airport, some of us were very excited by the German pastries that were offered, especially the different types of pretzels! Eventually, we hopped on another plane and landed in Athens, where we got our luggage. (All of the luggage made it!)
After we left the airport, we met our tour guide, Alessandra. She led us onto the bus heading to the hotel and told us the itinerary for the first three days. Forty-five minutes later, we arrived at the hotel.
After we settled down and got changed in the hotel, we walked from our hotel to a restaurant in the Plaka District, where we saw some nice Athens city views. We were also able to see the Acropolis in the sunset. Soon, we got to the restaurant, To Kafeneio, and had an authentic Greek dinner. Our top three favorites are the fried cheese and the two desserts, chocolate with crackers in it and ice cream with cracker crumbs and raspberry sauce.
Enjoying views of the Acropolis from below! We can’t wait to see it up close in a couple days.
