For our second day of the trip, we woke up bright and early to arrive at Give Kids The World Village for our first shift. Jenaya and Aami worked “Henri’s Starlite Scoops” ice cream shop where families can get ice cream anytime during the day. Ben, Alex, Willie, East, Lucas, Josh, Mr. Brunswick, and Ms. LuBrant worked in “Cafe Clayton” dining hall. The girls served almost 60 customers while the other crew served over 300 people during the breakfast rush! East was in charge of making waffles. They must have been pretty good since that had the longest line at breakfast. We also met Ellie and Emma, two therapy dogs that come to meet the families in the morning. They were so friendly. The morning was rewarding and exciting before we left the village for our break. During break, we took another small Walmart trip, swam, ate, rested, and got ready for our second shift where we were all scheduled to work together at Cafe Clayton.
Our second shift at Cafe Clayton was a busy one! We began before the dinner rush, around 5:30 and wrapped up before 9 p.m. Willie and East did dishes while Ben, Alex, Ms. Lubrant, and Lucas cleaned tables. Josh and Mr. Brunswick greeted guests as they entered Cafe Clayton and helped carry trays to tables. Aami served a great salad at the salad bar and Jenaya was the beverage queen.
Before leaving The Village, we took the annual group picture with Old Elmer, and then we took a quick trip to Wawa for some dinner! We met so many great families today and are looking forward to seeing them again this week. The rest of the night was spent relaxing and getting a good night’s sleep for another busy day on Sunday!
