El 26 de marzo en Holguín, Cuba
We started the day off a bit earlier than yesterday, 8am! After, we got all dressed up, and went to María’s church, the one where we are residing. The group sat in the service briefly before dispersing into smaller groups, one with the little kids, and one with young adults. While working with the little kids, we sat through a small demonstration of Moses’ journey, or as they call him here, Moisés. Afterwards, we colored and spoke with the children. Meanwhile, in the other group we discussed love and how it related to different adjectives in Bible verses. We continued to discuss the importance of God in everyday life. Once our respective meetings ended, Profe and the Washingtons took part in the second service, while the students watched the children of the families, played cards, and had time to relax. After lunch, we took an hour long bus ride to Guardalavaca Beach along with some of our Cuban amigos, where we spent the day and the rest of the evening. We were given the opportunity to swim in the Caribbean Sea, collect shells, play soccer and other sports, and see some beach resorts in Cuba. Dinner was at a restaurant towards the end of the shoreline looking over a cliff, where we were offered chicken and pork options, along with pineapple ice cream for dessert. We jumped back on the bus to our residence for more ice cream and cake! After dessert, some students chose to play games with another group of students residing in the church. Overall, today was very eventful and eye opening when given the opportunity to talk to other Cubans.
